MacGroup would like to recognize Linda Stein

Linda Stein

Terry will take care of it.

Sometimes I think this is the underlying feeling some members have. Terry is the man that will always make things happen. When the MacNews well runs dry, Terry will muster the troops to get more material for the newsletter, when suggestions for MacGroup meetings are needed, Terry will come up with them and arrange for guests. Terry White .... Go To Man. Come rain or shine wind or snow. Snow .... Snow .... did I say snow?

Let's talk about snow. December's Macgroup monthly meeting was met with an abundance of snow. Now although it came close to a canceled meeting (don't you believe it) we still had our monthly meeting.

Linda Stein, who volunteered to show both iLife and iWork at the meeting, braved the bad weather and put on a great presentation. Sure she could have easily said, "I can't make it" and stay home in her warm house, but her commitment to the group brought her out.

She could have said "Terry will take care of it" but she took care of it.

Bravo Linda for being there and being the "Volunteer of the Month"!

October 2007

MacGroup would like to recognize Shirley Kussner

Scott Kelby & Shirley KussnerIt can never be said that MacGroup is a place where you are not felt welcome.

I will admit that there are some fanatics in this group. one type that really stands out are the Photoshop Fanatics. They seem to come out in droves when guys like Scott Kelby comes to town.

It seems to really perk up the members, especially Shirley Kussner. Shirley has made the Photoshop tool a part of her lifestyle. So when she heard that Kelby, one of her Photoshop/Mac idols was to make an appearance at the October meeting, she wanted to make sure he felt welcomed. Shirley arranged for balloon decorations, lettering and other members to assist in making a monumental welco for Scott when he drove up to the meeting in October. Scott to say the least was most welcomed and pleased with the warmth of MacGroup.

Hat's off to all of the members that helped with the great welcome for Scott. But most of all to Shirley Kussner that organized and made the special welcome happen. Not that it has to be something as big as this to be volunteer of the month, it's just the effort put forth by Shirley without prompting, that earned her October's designation of "Volunteer of the Month"

Thanks Shirley!

July 2007

MacGroup would like to recognize Calvin Carson and Jamie Feldman

Calvin and Jamie

There are times when you just do it because it's needed and the right thing to do.
At the July meeting we heard the unfortunate news about the Rabbi that headed the Birmingham Temple. Thanks to the sensitivity of the membership of MacGroup, we ended the meeting on time per Terry's suggestion and cleared the meeting room promptly.
Before leaving, Terry wanted to make sure that the room was ready for the Temple membership to be able to hold their activities in a clear and clean environment. Calvin went through the room again to confirm the cleanliness and met with a Temple member to assure their satisfaction. The temple member asked if we could move out the tables that we normally use during our meetings. Their custodian was not there that day and Calvin assessed that the Temple member would not be able to do it himself, at least not easily. Calvin started to move the tables when Jamie Feldman walked up and said "Let me help you". Jamie just pitched in without asking and assisted in getting the room cleared quickly so that the Temple could carry on their business.
It's not a big thing, but it's a thing that makes a difference on how others view the MacGroup organization. An organization that is sensitive to the needs of not just the membership, but the people that are around the environments that we use. Jamie or any other member hanging back and helping out assures that we are viewed this way. I personally appreciate Jamie's and Calvin's help to get this task done.

MacGroup would like to recognize Andy Greenwell

Andy GreenwellAndy doesn't always make it to the meetings, but when he does, he does so in a big way! I asked Andy to help out with our July meeting and not only did he agree to come and give some lighting tips with our live photo shoot, but he also brought a ton of equipment, his assistant Mario and he even furnished a lovely model (Missy) to make our meeting perfect! Thanks Andy, we really appreciate your adding a professional touch to our July meeting.

MacGroup would like to recognize Louis F. Levin

Louis F LevinLou joined MacGroup in May 2007 and in true MacGroup spirit he jumped right in and started helping without having to be asked to. Louis is professional photographer and as a photographer realizes that one person can't be in all the places at once to grab the best shot. So he started helping out by taking some really great shots at our meetings along with Joseph Grey. The two of them now hand me their memory cards after each meeting and I have an awesome assortment of shots to choose from. Lou we thank you for your efforts! As usual being a photographer he's using behind the camera, so finding this shot of him required some Googling. Joe, can you grab a shot of this guy next month? :-)

MacGroup would like to recognize Jack Beckman

Jack BeckmanJack to the rescue! Not only would I like to recognize Jack (once again) for his tireless efforts helping members on our iBBS, but Jack also pitched in a helping hand during the March meeting by showing Windows Vista running on a Mac using Parallels. I was not prepared to show this and Jack stepped up to the plate and once again came through for us! Thanks Jack!
